南総里見八犬伝（なんそうさとみはっけんでん）
戦国時代、安房国（あわのくに＝千葉県）の藩主であった里見忠義がなぜ鳥取関金に！？
突如として伯耆国（鳥取）に国替えを命ぜられ過酷な生活を強いられることとなり、無念の死を遂げたといわれています。
忠義には、忠臣がおり忠義が苦節の時にあっても、まさに忠誠を尽くしたそうです。
忠義なきあとは、倉吉にある大岳院にまつり、忠臣はそのあとを追って殉死したそうです。
この史実をもとに作られたのが滝沢馬琴の『南総里見八犬伝』で、当時（江戸時代後期）爆発的ヒットとなりました。
いつの時代も風紀が乱れ忠義が問われる出来事がありますが、それゆえ勧善懲悪のストーリーは庶民の喝采を浴びたのかもしれません。
関金には家臣の祠などもあります。
忠義は、大変信心深く、地元の神社仏閣を大切にしていたといわれています。
不遇の中、家臣と共に関金の人々との交わりも大事にしていたからでしょう。
地元の人々が家臣の祠を祀ったそうで、今も里見屋敷跡近くにあります。
また、毎年９月には「せきがね里見まつり」をもよおし、忠義と家臣の霊をなぐさめています。
【英語】The Eight Dog Chronicles
You might wonder why Satomi Tadayoshi, a Warring States Period feudal lord, from Awa Province (currently Chiba Prefecture) is found here in Sekigane, Tottori.
It is said that Satomi was suddenly ordered to move to Hoki Province (Tottori). He was forced to live a hard life and died in bitter disappointment. However, Satomi had a faithful follower, Tadaomi, who showed loyalty with unswerving determination even during difficult times. Tadaomi fulfilled his loyal duties by enshrining Satomi at Daigakuin Temple in Kurayoshi and followed him to the grave by being also buried there at the end of his life.
Based on this true story, Takizawa Bakin wrote “The Eight Dog Chronicles” (Nansou Satomi Hakkenden), which became a big hit at the time (late Edo Period). In every day and age, you hear of events where loyalty is being questioned in the midst of corruption. This is likely the reason why Bakin’s story of good versus evil appealed so much to commoners.
In Sekigane, you can find a retainer’s shrine. It is said that Satomi was very pious and looked after the local shrines and temples. This is probably because of Satomi’s and his retainer’s determination in keeping good relations with the people of Sekigane even in dark times. It is believed that the locals enshrined the retainer near Satomi’s residential remains which exists to this day. The locals also comfort the spirits of Satomi and his retainer every year in September by holding the “Sekigane Satomi Festival”.

在战国时代，安房国（千叶县）藩主的里见忠义为什么来到了鸟取关金？传说是因为突然被改封领地到伯耆国（鸟取），过着极其残酷的生活，甚是悔恨，甚至想寻死。忠义有位忠臣，哪怕就是在忠义苦守的时候，也对忠义忠心耿耿。忠义离世后，被葬在仓吉的大岳院，忠臣也追随其而殉死。
因由泷泽马琴按这史实为基础而编写的「南总里见八犬传」，在当时（江户时代后期）受到了爆发似的欢迎。不管什么时代，虽然扰乱风纪的忠义都会被提起，但这是因为劝善惩恶的故事被民众所喝彩的缘故吧。
关金有家臣的祠堂。忠义深信神灵，据说对当地的神社、寺院非常爱护。这是因为在不得志中，和家臣一起把与关金的人们的交往作为大事吧。当地的人们在家臣的祠堂祭祀，至今附近还留有里见宅院的遗迹。另外，每年九月还举行「关金里见节」，来祭慰忠义和家臣之灵。
