亀井公園と亀山城伝説　（かめいこうえん と かめやまじょうでんせつ）

カメの形に似ていると言われていた亀山に社があったのですが、城を築こうとその社を移し、亀山城と名付けられました。

この山はまるで要塞のようで、攻めるものあらば、まるでカメが動いたかのごとくに浮き上がり、兵糧攻めにもびくともしなかったそうです。

強固な城を建てたものの、世継ぎに恵まれないなどの事態に、家老たちは「社を移し、部武器弾薬をため込んで（山を）重くした、たたりではあるまいか」と恐れ、社をもとに戻したのだそうです。

しかし結局は尼子勢に敗れてしまったのだそうです。

亀井公園は、この城郭の一帯と言われていますが、今では６万本近くもあるというミツバツヅジが自生しており、ピンク色に山を彩ります。

頂上の展望台からは、関金一帯や大山を一望することが出来ます。

【英語】Kamei Park and the Tale of Kameyama Castle

The shape of Kameyama resembles a turtle, hence the name kame (turtle) and yama (mountain/hill). When it was decided that a castle was to be built, the mountain shrine was relocated and the new castle was named Kameyama Castle. This mountain served as a fortress and protected the castle from enemy attacks by seemingly rising up, almost as though the whole turtle-shaped mountain had moved. It remained unperturbed even when food supplies were cut off. Although a strong castle was built, it was not blessed with any successors and the chief retainers began to think, “We might have cursed ourselves by relocating the shrine and filling this mountain with heavy weaponry”. Fearing this, they returned the shrine to its original place. However, the castle was subsequently defeated by Amago Clan. 

It is said that Kameyama Park was part of the castle grounds. It is now home to nearly 60,000 Mitsuba Azaleas that decorate the mountain with their shades of pink. Climb up to the top of the mountain and enjoy a bird’s eye view of Mt. Daisen and parts of Sekigane from the lookout.

龟山据说原有一龟形的神社，在建城时，移建了神社，龟山城由此而得名。此城像似一座要塞，如果要攻城，它如同龟一样移动浮现，就是截断军粮它也安然如故，根本无法攻克。

建造了强国的城堡，却没有继承家业的后世。因此家老们畏惧地说「移设了神社，武器弹药都被攒下，把山重压后得到的报应吧」。所以想要把神社移回去。但是结局却是被尼姑们的势力击败了。

龟井公园的位置据说是原城郭地带。至今公园里仍自然生长着六万支三叶杜鹃花，花开时，粉红色渲染了整座龟山。从山顶的瞭望台瞭望，关金一带及大山可尽收眼底。
